Why "Have Fun With It"?
It was a good reminder for me that no matter what is going in our lives, we can still enjoy every day: cherish our relationships, play with our pets, paint, dance, laugh, enjoy a glass of wine. Cheers! Let's get into it!
For the first coat, I get a considerable amount of water and paint. I chose to use my sponge brush for a more painterly effect. To get great texture, paint in "S" and more organic shapes. I chose to leave some white space around my watercolor.
After the first coat, let your page dry for a minute or so. This will help to build the vibrancy and opacity of the color when you lay down the next coat. Once you are satisfied with it, take it outside to dry thoroughly.
The phrase I chose was "Have Fun With It", but you can put anything you want. I found that with the size of the letters it was easier to keep the phrase short.
8 x 10.
Lay the card board on top of your page and match the corners of it with your pencil marks from before. Place a hand firmly on the cardboard and drag your xacto knife along the edges of your page where they meet the cardboard.
Watercolor paper is very thick and I had to run my knife over it twice. Even so, it gave a nice perforation and not a clean cut. Don't worry too much about the very edges of the paper because they won't show. You can carefully tear off the perforated edges you've created.
I also made a youtube video tutorial for this project:
